$300 per day. Based on the amount of chipping that needs to be accomplished we estimate that we
will need to use a chipper between 15 to 20 days a year. That equates to over $4,500 per year.
Replace 92 Dump Truck
Purchase new truck based on life cycle cost analysis in 2005 for approximately $95,000.
Replace Tool Box for Shop
The existing toolbox is worn out and needs to be replaced. Replacement cost is $1,000.
Replace Sign Puller
Our existing signpost puller is worn out and needs to be replaced. Replacement cost is $1,500 for a
hydraulic operated unit.
10% FUND (page 61)
Playground Restoration
While additional evaluation is needed, a play structure restoration /replacement plan is necessary for
future budgeting purposes. $5,000 is needed in 2004 to address maintenance (mostly painting of
metal and replacing a few wood components). $10,000 in subsequent years may be a conservative
estimate, but additional evaluation will give a better indication.
Canadian Days Fireworks
Continue support at $4,000 City, $1,000 Canadian Days.
Fire Department Monument
Originally donated by one of the charitable gambling organizations. The Fire Department will be
researching the original intent of the donor and recommending a course of action.
INFRASTRUCTURE (pages 63 -64)
Streets
We have reevaluated our street reconstruction program and are proposing the schedule as shown.
Noel Drive has been moved forward because during this last year the bituminous surface has dried
out to the point where it is very brittle and is falling apart. We are concerned that the hill section of
this street will erode away faster that we can patch it.
Future street projects are as follows:
2009 Eli, Desoto, Savage, and Thunder Bay
2011 Morrison, Racine, Woodlyn, Rose
2013 Jackson, Greenbrier, Condit
2015 Canabury, Westwinds, Windrow, Viking
The trails approved by the Council at their September 2411i meeting are reflected as completed during
2003 and 2004. Cost figures here include a 20% allowance for engineering and inspection.
-6
