MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
MARCH 13, 2008
display hailers on his property. He reported that he was told by City
staff that he needed to apply for a PUD Permit. Maietta reported that
the displays are two sunrooms on trailers that are put on display at
Home Depot stores and Sam's Club stores. These trailers would not
spend much time at 2905 Country Drive from spring to late fall.
Maietta reported that he may purchase a third display trailer in the
future. He indicated that other cities will only allow the trailers to be
displayed at the stores for a certain number of days, so when they are
not scheduled at a store, they would return to Little Canada.
With regard to the commercial dumpster, Maietta reported that they
periodically have a large dumpster on the property in addition to their 4-
yard dumpster. Maietta reported that when he purchased his property he
thought that it had a garage behind the building and was unaware that
this was actually a trash enclosure. Maietta reported that the showroom
area within his building decreases his storage space; therefore, he had
proposed to construct an up to 800 square foot garage/trash enclosure on
the property. Given the challenging business year he has had, the
garage was not built. Maietta reported that it is his intention to build
this garage/trash enclosure in the future.
Knudsen asked the purpose of the additional dumpster. Maietta
reported that it is needed occasionally to accommodate overflow.
Maietta noted that the 4-yard dumpster would continue to be needed for
the property.
Maietta stated that he is requesting the PUD Peirnit for outdoor display
of the gazebo since he felt the City would realize that the gazebo is not
an eyesore and would allow it to stay outside. Knudsen asked if the
intention was to store the gazebo inside the new garage that was to be
built. Maietta replied that that was the intent, but he would like to leave
it as a permanent display.
Maietta reporCed that he is also requesting a Comprehensive Sign Plan
so that he could construct a sign providing signage for Temo Sunrooms
as well as whatever tenant he has for his property. The City Planner
indicated that the PUD District allows a freestanding sign on the
property. However, a Comprehensive Sign Plan is required if the
building is multi-tenant. Maietta reported that should the City not
expand the number of massage therapy business licenses, he would try
to find another tenant. Therefore, the Comprehensive Sign Plan is
required. Maietta reported that the tenant he is proposing is a wellness
center which would have one office for massage therapy and another for
facials. Maietta indicated that the wellness center is actually his wife's
business.
-3-
