MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
MARCH 13, 2008
no need for outdoor storage. Knudsen stated that he cannot support the
outdoor storage of the trailers or the dumpster. Knudsen stated that he
did not have an issue with allowing the gazebo to remain as an outdoor
display. With regard to the wellness business, he felt that the
Commission had to consider the combination of businesses proposed
and the precedent that would be set. Knudsen asked about the synergy
of the wellness business in combination with the Temo Sunroom
business. Mr. Maietta acknowledged that on its face, there wasn't any,
but pointed out that the wellness business is his wife's business.
Knudsen stated that based on this fact he would be open to allowing the
wellness business in this location.
John Grant, 2901 Condit Street, reported that he is the residential
property behind Temo Sunrooms. He has contacted Mr. Maietta to
discuss some of his concerns with the proposal. Grant noted that the
Planning Commission recommended denial of the PUD Permit for the
garage storage building last year, and indicated that he would rather not
look at this garage structure. Grant stated that it was preferable to him
to Look at the outdoor storage of the display trailers on a temporary basis
if that would delay construction of the garage. Grant felt that the trailers
would be more easily screened from Condit Street than the garage.
Grant stated that from his living room he currently sees vans, trailers,
and dumpsters at the back of the Temo property.
Grant believed that the commercial dumpster that is at the back of the
property is a 20-yard dumpster and not the 10-yard dumpster stated by
Mr. Maietta. Grant noted that there is also the 4-yard dumpster in the
back. Grant stated that there are two issues with these dumpsters. The
first is that they are an invitation for people to drive behind the building
and dump their own debris into them. The second is that people drive
behind the building to scavenge from these dumpsters.
Grant stated that he was not opposed to the outdoor display of the
gazebo as requested by Maietta. However, he was disappointed that the
gazebo was not taken down as Maietta agreed so. Grant expressed
concern going forward with Maietta's compliance with the
commitments that he makes.
With regard to the massage business, Grant stated that his only concern
would be the days and hours of operation, noting that the business is
adjacent to a residential area.
Duray asked if Maietta would put the display trailers into the garage
once it is constructed. Maietta replied that he would, indicating that it
was better to keep them indoors in terms of keeping them clean. Duray
-5-
