shall be effected only upon authorization from the City. <br />3. Holidays. The Contactor will observe the following legal holidays on which their <br />offices and operations will be closed: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, <br />Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. <br />When holidays fall on a weekday, the collection for each day of that week <br />after the holiday shall be made one (1) working day later. <br />4. Authorized Certified Pickups. Only such pickups shall be made as have been <br />authorized eertifed by the City pursuant to the terms of this Contract, and the <br />Contractor shall not be entitled to payment for any pickups made -and not <br />certified authorized by this Contract the City. <br />dwelling unit has been certified for collection service, and the Contractor <br />wishes to discontinue such service at such residential dwelling unit, the <br />Contractor shall notify the City to that effect at 1 st one week prior to the <br />date of discontinuance of such service. <br />5. Street Improvements. The City reserves the right to improve any street or alley <br />which may prevent the Contractor from traveling its accustomed route or <br />routes for collection. The Contractor shall bear the responsibility for <br />contacting the Public Works Director prior to each construction season to <br />determine areas of conflict and possible alternate routes or solutions. No <br />additional compensation will be made for this interference. <br />6. Administration. Contractor shall maintain an office equipped with telephones and <br />staffed with sufficient personnel to handle complaints, orders for special <br />service, and /or to receive instructions. <br />a. The office shall be staffed from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 408 p.m., Monday <br />through Friday (except holidays). <br />b. The Contractor shall maintain a written log of all complaints, the date <br />thereof and the action taken pursuant thereto or the reason for <br />non - action. Such log of complaints shall be reported monthly to the <br />City and made available for inspection by the City Administrator or <br />an authorized representative upon request. <br />c. The Contractor shall keep complete and accurate records in accordance <br />with generally accepted accounting principals. <br />d. The Contractor shall bill and collect monies due from residents for <br />collection service. The City will send notices to delinquent residents <br />in the fall of each year asking them to make their accounts current. If, <br />-10- <br />Page 151 <br />
