MINUTES OF' THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />AUGUST 16, 2001 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Planning <br />Commission of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 1611' day of <br />August, 2001 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Acting Chair Dennis Carson called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and <br />the following members of the Planning Commission were present at roll <br />call: <br />PLANNING COMMISSION: Mr. Scott Barraclough <br />Mr. Dennis Carson <br />Mr. Tom Duray <br />Mr. Tom Wojcik <br />ABSENT: <br />Mr. John Keis <br />Mr. Dan Knudsen <br />Mr. Thomas Roycraft <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Steve Grittman, City Planner <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer, Deputy Clerk <br />MINUTES The minutes of the July 12, 2001 Planning Commission meeting were <br />approved as submitted. <br />CUP — 3058 Al and Cindy Mentes appeared before the Commission requesting <br />GREENBRIER — approval of a Conditional Use Permit allowing construction of a 36 foot <br />AL & CINDY by 28 -foot accessory garage for total garage space exceeding 1,000 <br />MENTES square feet. Cindy Mentes commented on the City Planner's <br />recommendations as contained in his August 13, 2001 report. Mentes <br />stated that their problem was with the first recommendation that the <br />accessory building be shifted westward to lie six feet from the principal <br />structure. Their concern was how they would get into the garage if there <br />were only a six -foot separation between buildings. Mentes reported that <br />prior to purchasing the property, they checked with the City about the <br />feasibility of constructing a second garage of this size and were told about <br />that a CUP was necessary, but should not be a problem. Mentes pointed <br />out that the garage would be used for storage of two classic cars, a boat, <br />and other household items. <br />Carson pointed out that the Mentes' already have an attached two -car <br />garage. <br />Mrs. Mentes reported that that is correct. However, the house is a split <br />entry, therefore, the entryway for the house takes up room inside the <br />Page 11 <br />
