flAN
OERTEL ARCHITECTS
1795 SAINT CLAIR AVENUE, SAINT PAUL, MN 55105
TEL: 651/696 -5186
DA 1 E: November 27, 2000
TO: Little Canada City Council
Greg Schroeder
RE: Little Canada
Mechanical cost estimate
FROM: Jeff Oertel
FAX: 651/696-3188
MEMORANDUM
At the request of the council, my office prepared a simple outline spec for HVAC work.
This was used as a basis for mechanical contractors to estimate the costs of improving
the air quality at the existing Public Works Building. The following is a summary of
the findings.
Proposed System:
The work included a make -up air system (along with associated ductwork, controls
and equipment) for the vehicle areas. In all, up to six air changes were specified as
necessary to meet current code and life /safety requirements. The office area included a
new system to pressurize the space and prohibit air flow from the vehicle areas. The
estimates were to include all cutting, patching, electrical work and repairs for a
complete installation.
Cost Estimates:
The following contractors provided cost estimates for the proposed work. Note that
each contractor took a slightly different approach to the task at hand. Since the specs
that were prepared were not fully engineered and detailed, the estimates below are
good educated guesses by the professionals but not necessarily firm and all inclusive.
Note that Apollo's and Dependable's estimates are attached and Horowitz' estimate is
forthcoming.
Page 109
