• Ramsey County expressed concern regarding the change over to the new signal <br />system at Rice and Little Canada Road. Due to problems experienced in Shoreview <br />along Highway 96, they want us to keep the current system operational until the new <br />system is ready for use. Given some expected delays in equipment delivery, it is <br />likely the new system will not be operational until next spring. The City Engineer is <br />not concerned about this possibility. <br />• We are also attempting to move the signal equipment box from the northeast corner <br />of Rice and Little Canada Road to the Roseville side of the street. This will improve <br />aesthetics for any redevelopment efforts we undertake. <br />• The City Engineers have done an excellent job in attempting to maximize our use of <br />Municipal State Aid Funds on this project. I had given them a target of $600,000 and <br />it is possible we will exceed that by as much as 50 %. This will ease this project's <br />burden on our Infrastructure Replacement Fund, but it will deplete our MSA <br />resources for the next few years. <br />cc: Terry Maurer, City Engineer <br />Page 86 <br />
