• The sidewalk was six feet wide and very well lit.
• The street was four lanes with protected left turn lanes and was approximately 88 feet
wide (twice as wide as Little Canada Road will be)
• The planting area between the sidewalk and the property line was six feet wide and
covered with wood chips.
• Trees were planted approximately every 30 feet.
Based on this observation, I feel that lighting at a 75 -foot interval is excessive. I also
question the necessity to have lights on the south side of Little Canada Road from County
Road C to the railroad tracks. I feel our key concern in this area should be the lighting
the sidewalk on the north side of the street. I also question the need for the lights from
Market Place Drive to the railroad tracks on the south side of the street given the fact the
path will not be installed until some time in the future and the lights could impact the
remaining residences in this area.
I want to emphasize that this is only my opinion and the Council needs to be comfortable
with whatever decision it makes. I am asking Terry Maurer and Michael Schroeder to be
present at Wednesday's meeting to discuss this matter in greater detail in order that we
can finalize the project design. As you know, I am concerned about controlling costs, but
the end result I want to achieve is a project we will all be proud of for many years to
come.
CC: Terry Maurer
Michael Schroeder
\ \CLCSRV01 \ HOME VessicaJ \Cortesp\2000Voi
Page 192
