At this time Blomberg
presented the City with 520,000 for the Little Canada Park Fund from
St. Joseph's Society's operation at the Little Canada Bingo Hall.
Jan Sherman, representing Servants of Mary, submitted to the Council a
partial list of donations that Servants of Mary has made since July.
At this time Sherman presented the City with a $20,000 donation to the
City's Park Fund from Servants of Mary's operation at the Little Canada
Bingo Hall as well as a $20,000 donation to the Park Fund from Servants
of Mary's pull -tab operation at Brady's.
The Council thanked the two charities for their generous donations to
the City's Park Fund.
The Mayor opened the public hearing to consider the application for
conditional use permit submitted by Bank Shot Billiards, Inc. for the
purpose of operating a billiard center in a portion of the new Rice at
C shopping center at 2650 Rice Street.
Fahey reported that the Planner has submitted a report dated December
3, 1987 recommending approval of the CUP subject to the requirements
as outlined in that report.
Fahey also reported that the Planning Commission has recommended approval
of the CUP subject to the Planner's recommendations, however, allowing
up to 8 amusement devices on premises and setting the hours of operation
from 8 A.M. until 2 A.M.
Mr. Michael Schifsky, representing Bank Shot Billiards, appeared before
the Council and reported that in drawing up the floor plan for the
site there is room for 6 amusement devices. Schifsky stated that these
devices will not be the primary function of the billiard center, but the
business does lend itself to these devices.
Schifsky also reported that since the Planning Commission meeting
there has been a change in that the center would be locating one bay
further to the north in the shopping center and would not be directly
adjacent to Food and Fuel. Schifsky pointed out that the billiard center
would have only one entrance which would be used exclusively by the
billiard center. The center would take up about 35% of the total shopping
center site, or about 3,720 square feet.
Scalze asked who the other tenents in the shopping center will be.
Page 92
