MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 25, 2012
CONSENT
AGENDA
Waite again suggested that the Council review the September and
October, 2009 minutes and tapes. Blesener again reported that this has
been done. Waite indicated that the Council has said the City did not
solicit St. John's to do the hunt in the cemetery, and it was his position
that they did. Blesener apologized for any misunderstanding. Keis again
stated that the Council does their best. McGraw pointed out that the issue
began in 2007 when the Church submitted a letter of support for a
property owner to hunt the cemetery property. When the City was
considering the deer hunt by the MBRB in 2009, the City went to St.
John's to see if they were still in support of a hunt on the cemetery
property. McGraw pointed out that during one of the 2009 meetings,
Council Member Montour questioned how the City could deny a permit
for a property owner to hunt their own property, but approve a permit for
MBRB to hunt. McGraw stated that that comment was not about the St.
John's property, but was made in context of MBRB hunting private land
when the property owner themselves would not be allowed to hunt their
own land. McGraw indicated that he reviewed the August, September,
and October 2009 meeting minutes and tapes. He pointed out that St.
John's submitted a letter in 2007 supporting a deer hunt on their cemetery
property. When the 2009 deer hunt was being considered, the City went
to St. John's to make sure that St. John's would still allow this property to
be hunted. McGraw stated that in 2007 the Church approached the City
about the deer hunt. In 2009 the City approached the Church and asked if
the 2007 offer was still valid.
Waite asked that Council Member Montour look at the minutes and tapes
and contact him directly. Again, Council Member Montour stated that he
has looked at the minutes and tapes.
Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2012 -7 -128 - APPROVING THE CONSENT
AGENDA WHICH CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING:
*APPROVAL OF THE VOUCHERS;
*APPLICATION TO CONDUCT OFF -SITE GAMBLING, RAFFLE
IN CONJUNCTION WITH ICE FISHING CONTEST — LITTLE
CANADA RECREATION ASSOCIATION;
*AUTHORIZE ABATEMENT OF NUISANCES AT 465 LABORE
ROAD, 2569 RUTH STREET, AND 3006 RICE STREET;
12
