MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 8, 2012 <br />CALL The City Administrator recommended that the Council call for a 2013 <br />BUDGET Budget Workshop in preparation for certifying the preliminary levy to <br />WORKSHOP Ramsey County. He noted that the preliminary levy must be certified by <br />September 15, 2012. Once the preliminary levy amount is certified, the <br />City can certify a lower final levy, but cannot increase it. <br />The City Administrator recommended that the Budget Workshop be <br />scheduled for Monday, September 10t. If need be, the Council can <br />continue the workshop meetin to just prior to the regular Council meeting <br />on Wednesday, September 12` <br />Mr. McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012 -9 -136 — CALLINGA 2013 BUDGET <br />WORKSHOP MEETING FOR MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2012, AT <br />6:00 P.M. AND CONTINUING THE BUDGET WORKSHOP TO <br />WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2012, IF NECESSARY, AT TIME <br />TO BE DETERMINED BY THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />VETERANS The City Administrator reviewed his report dated August 2, 2012 relative <br />MEMORIAL to the formation of a committee to evaluate and make a recommendation <br />COMMITTEE on the creation of a veterans memorial in Little Canada. The <br />Administrator listed some of the topics that the committee would consider. <br />He also suggested that the committee be made up of two Council <br />Members, two Historical Society members, two citizens -at- large, as well <br />as Rocky Waite, who suggested the committee formation to the Council. <br />The Administrator suggested that the City advertise for citizen -at -large <br />members on the web site and in its next newsletter. <br />The Council discussed the number of citizen -at -large members, and agreed <br />that the final number would be determined based on the amount of interest <br />expressed and the need to have a committee of a manageable size. <br />Rocky Waite stated that he had no preference for committee size, but <br />agreed that too large of a committee would be difficult to manage. Boss <br />asked how often Waite anticipated that the committee would meet. Waite <br />stated that he anticipated that initially the committee would meet every <br />month or two. <br />3 <br />
