Mayor & City Council
July 23, 1999
Page 2
The expected construction cost for this project is $63,100. We have sought funding from the
Ramsey - Washing Metro Watershed District and the Ramsey County Soil & Water Conservation
District. Neither of those agencies would assist in the funding of this project given its localized
nature. We then continued discussions with the affected agencies and arrived at the following
cost split:
Little Canada $16,020 (includes $9,600 of overhead)
Ramsey County 12,305
Vadnais Heights 34.775
Total: $63,100
Ramsey County has agreed to the amount indicated based on the representations of their staff.
The City of Vadnais Heights was to consider this matter at their July 20`h meeting. However,
this item was not scheduled that meeting and will be discussed at their August 4th meeting.
Gerry Urban, City Administrator, has indicated their city should agree to the amount as
proposed.
I have also enclosed meeting minutes with the neighbors of this area. You will note their support
for the proposed action plan.
It is staff's recommendation that the City Council authorize us to proceed with implementing this
corrective program We would also recommend that the City's share of funding be authorized in
the amount indicated. (The source of funding would be the infrastructure repair and replacement
fund.) Should you have any comments or questions on this matter, please let me know before
Wednesday's meeting so I can have the City Engineer present to discuss them in greater detail.
JRH:kpp
Enclosures
Page 121
