Rice Street
Shoreview, MN 55126
(612) 484 -9104 • Fax 482-5232
On May 19, 1998, I met with several residents on Maple Leaf Court to discuss a drainage
problem behind the homes on the east side of the street just south of County Road D.
Dolores Knoche contacted me after a couple of children needed assistance exiting a gully
located along a drainageway behind her home. At our initial meeting, I committed to
reviewing available information and meeting again with residents, which I did on
June 4.
Scott Tangen of your staff and Pat Conrad of the Ramsey- Washington Metro Watershed
District provided me with information on the development plan. I reviewed the plan and
toured the drainage area (cf. enclosed drainage map). The drainageway receives water
from 2 culverts; one under County Road D and the other under Maple Leaf Court, and
direct drainage from the south half of County Road D east of Maple Leaf Court. The
combined discharge flows along the south side of County Road D into a drainage
easement (cf. plat map) which includes the eastern portion of the lots on the east side of
Maple Leaf Court.
Stormwater flows throughout the drainage system are relatively dispersed until
concentrated at the culverts. A drainage swale is also present behind the homes on the
west side of Maple Leaf Ct. All of the parking lot drainage from the apartment building
on the north side of County Road D appears to exit the driveway and then flows west to a
single catch basin and then under County Road D to the south. The approximate
contributing area from Ramsey County right of way (County Road D and Labore north of
County Road D) is 1.41 acres.
\drainage\mapl fct.doc
PAGE 122
Minn
Printed on retinae Pew ..qt. •
0
