After some discussion between representatives from Little Canada,
Vadnais Heights, and Ramsey County, a consensus was reached to proceed with the option of
constructing an Enkamat/riprap swale. This swale would extend from the convergence of the
culverts at the north end of Maple Leaf Court and then along the back property lines of the
affected lots on the east side of Maple Leaf Court.
The swale along the north end of the flow path, for approximately 100 feet, would consist of
excavating a shallow swale and lining it with Enkamat erosion control blanket to minimize
additional erosion. At the south end of the drainage path, where the erosion is more severe and
a deep gully has formed, a uniform channel will be excavated, graded, and lined with riprap.
In addition to the Enkamat/riprap swale, the curb and gutter along the east side of Maple Leaf
Court will be extended around the radius with County Road D and then eastward along County
Road D. This curb and gutter extension will redirect the overflow from the catch basin on the
north side of County Road D. The overflow would then flow south over County Road D and into
the gutter section and then south along Maple Leaf Court to the catch basin at the south end of
the cul-de -sac.
With the overflow routed along the existing curb on Maple Leaf Court, the flow that would have
flowed into the swale on the south side of County Road D is eliminated, thus reducing the flow
into the problem area.
0NPROJ1804490i \0325 \490- 2104.oct.doc
Page 134
1326 Energy Park Drive • St. Paul, MN 544 -9446 toll free 888/368 -4389
