Contact North Star Estates and inform them of the necessity to submit an updated stoma
shelter plan. 1 have been in contact with the park representative, and we are stilt working on
a solution to their shelter plan.
2. Contact 3020 and request an updated shelter plan which addresses handicapped access. The
park management has contacted all the park residents and surveyed them for anyone that
would need help getting into the basement shelter, and has arranged help with carrying
people inw the basement if needed.
3, Obtain in.formation relative to on -site storm shelters. In 1997 the City of Moundsview
required all 3 of the trailer parks in their city to build stone shelters Townsedge Terrace
built an above ground shelter with an earthen berm around the building capable of housing
150 people, the park has 238 trailers. The person I talked to had no idea of the cost or enact
size. Colonial Village built an above ground shelter with an earthen berm 36 fi' x 49 feet for
365,000. Moundsview Terrace has 2 concrete bunkers that hold 70 people each, I'm still
waiting on pricing for these.
5 Star in Vadnais Heights to currently building a shelter /community center. The building is
going to be 2500 square feet. The upstairs of the building will be a community center. The
cost of this building is around $ 175, 000. Some of the cost will of course be from the
community center, and also they had to put 60 ft pylons in the ground because of the soil
conditions in the park.
Page 74
