515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director GA-S
DATE: April 22, 1999
RE: Purchase of Dump Truck
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
I am very pleased to inform you that we have found a used 1992 Ford L8000 single axle dump
truck to replace the 1984 truck. We have negotiated a deal with Boyer Trucks to purchase this
vehicle for $26,875 including trading in our 1984 truck and sales tax. The expected delivery of
this truck is in August 1999.
The 1992 L8000 truck comes from the City of Coon Rapids and appears to be in very good
shape. However, to ensure its reliability for our use for many years into the future, some
mechanical and cosmetic work is needed. The estimated cost of this work is around $6,000
($3,000 for painting, $2,000 for plow repairs, and $1,000 for mechanical work). The 1999
budget fund 400 has a line item for the 1984 truck replacement at $40,000.
Authorization to purchase and repair the 1992 Ford L8000 single axle dump truck is requested.
GS:kp
page 141
