MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
MARCH 11, 1999
Knudsen indicated that he did not feel prepared to act on the office use
request without additional information.
Keis pointed out that if the CUP for open and outdoor storage is denied,
there is nothing to tie the code enforcement issues to. The Planner
indicated that those issues would then fall back to the Code Enforcement
Officer.
Keis asked the Commission's feelings on the office facility. Knudsen
stated that he would like to work with the applicant, however, he would
also like more information about trucks, parking, just what the office use
means, etc.
Gruett reported that the only overnight parking would be the two flatbed
trucks. During the day the tow trucks would go in and out of the property.
The City Planner suggested that City staff take a look at the office use
being proposed this evening, and pointed out that the Commission is free
to approve, deny or table action on the open and outside storage request.
Mr. Keis recommended denial of the Conditional Use Permit to allow
open and outdoor storage of towed automobiles as an additional principle
use at 3101 Country Drive as requested by Mr. Jerry Carle.
Motion seconded by Knudsen.
Motion carried 6 — 1. Mr. Barraclough voted against.
Mr. Keis recommended tabling action on the request by the towing
company for a shared office use with the Carle landscaping business at
3101 Country Drive, with no open and outdoor storage, until the applicant
has an opportunity to meet with City staff, review the details of the
proposal, and staff can make a report to the Commission on this proposal.
Motion seconded by Kraemer.
Motion carried 7 — 0.
Knudsen recommended that in working with City staff on this second
request, that it would be beneficial to the property owner to get the code
enforcement issues addressed. Keis pointed out that any approvals for this
property would have the code enforcement corrections attached as
conditions of approval.
Page 32
