Simka asked if sediment will be addressed. Brad explained that sediment will move <br />through proposed piping due to the higher velocity allowed by pipe versus an open ditch. <br />However, on -going maintenance will be necessary. The City will bear this responsibility <br />It was also noted that the sedimentation collection point will be better defined allowing <br />for easier maintenance. <br />Simka asked if "Lake George" will be improved. (This is localized flooding occurring in <br />front of George Lynch's property.) <br />Brad explained that the improvements proposed are based on 10 -year storm events. <br />Therefore, the situation will be improved but big storms will still be a problem. <br />Chuck V. suggested a collection pond on the south side of the road. Cliff replied that the <br />Watershed doesn't think it is necessary, but will take another look at it. <br />A resident asked about proposed costs. Dan Schacht estimated the recycle work at about <br />$60,000. The drainage improvements are projected at $40,000. The City Administrator <br />stated we will also evaluate the possibility of installing concrete curb and gutter versus <br />bituminous in association with this project. <br />The City will tall< to Mr. Kneeland about an easement for access to the ditch between B -2 <br />and the pond. We will meet with him to work out the details. <br />A resident asked what the traffic counts for B -2 are. A traffic count done in May of 1998 <br />which showed 1,000 cars per day utilizing County Road B -2. A question was asked <br />about how the City handled increased costs associated with these roads. The <br />Administrator explained the increase in NASA Funds are about $50,000 per year for all <br />turnbacks. He also talked about maintenance and construction uses for these monies. <br />There was discussion about fertilizers from yards. Cliff said it is a factor but naturally <br />occurring phosphorous is a greater problem. He acknowledged it would be better to <br />eliminate phosperous from home fertilizers. <br />Some of the issues the residents wanted addressed are as follows: <br />Speeds on B -2. (The City Administrator said he will discuss this with our traffic car and <br />have the time periods of concern monitored.) <br />The possibility of a stop sign at County Road B -2 and Edgerton to make it easier for B -2 <br />traffic to enter Edgerton. (The City Administrator explained that this was unlikely given <br />existing traffic patterns. He also explained that stop signs are not necessarily a good way <br />to control speeding.) <br />Speed limit posting and other signage such as "Children At Play (The City <br />Administrator said we will evaluate those concerns.) <br />Page 48 <br />
