MIGHTY DUCKS
YOUTH SPORTS GRANT PROPOSAL
REQUESTED FOR THE
ALL AMERICAN GIRL HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
The Sports For Life (SFL) Group is a non -profit entity created with one singular purpose: "To make it
possible for every aspiring sports enthusiast, irrespective of his /her financial or social status, to be able to
participate in the most progressive athletic and life skills training in the quest to enhance their overall personal
development." ( SFL)'s ability to coordinate successful "life education through sports" events in such activities as
football, basketball, and volleyball for the past nine years has resulted in continued corporate and community
support. (SFL)'s comprehensive approach to nurturing the "total" person represents a one of a kind experience
that is unique in that it provides fmancial aide scholarships to its participants. Due to the growth of female hockey,
(SFL) is appealing for a YOUTH SPORTS GRANT in order to provide opportunities in an otherwise cost
prohibitive sport as well as offset the ever growing number of financial aide requests it is currently receiving.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The All American Girl Hockey Program, (sponsored by SFL), will provide student - athletes with learning
opportunities not offered by any other sports camp. The focus of this six month experience will be to assist each
participant in becoming a performer of life by not only emphasizing the physical component of on -ice competition,
but also by addressing the many off -ice life style issues which will ultimately confront young women. The staff,
which will be comprised of the most recognized female role models on the female hockey scene, will strive to
emphasize how all aspects of the All American Girl school experience will nurture esteem building, leadership and
people skills in the goal of becoming a success on the arenas of life.
In order to reinforce the lessons of this six month program, participants may choose from a series of
components to be involved. They are as follows:
Page 103
