None of the cities
surveyed televise their Park and Recreations meetings, but some do televise their Planning
Commission meetings. There was much discussion regarding cost, necessity, etc. and the
consensus of the Commission was that it would be a good idea to publish the agenda on
Cable to encourage people to attend the meetings, or maybe publish the minutes in the paper.
Johnson made a motion not to televise the Park Commission Meetings at this time. The
Commission is open to the idea, but would prefer they not be televised. The Commission
would like to recommend the agenda be published on television, prior to the meeting, to
encourage people to take an interest and come to our meetings.
Motion seconded by Bianchi.
Motion carried 7 -0.
The Director stated that the City receives 10% of all the required gambling proceeds from
the various organizations that conduct charitable gambling places in the City. That fund has
been used in the past to do some things that do not normally get funded in the general capital
improvement budget. He stated that the 10% Committee is reconvening to determine how
the money should be spent. He said that the Committee is asking for a delegate from the
Parks and Recreation Commission.
It was the consensus of the Commission that Christensen should be the delegate.
Bianchi reported that she had booked a single performer by the name of Michael Monroe
for the last week of July. She said that he would appeal to the 15 to 35 age group. His style
is a mixture of Jazz, Blues and Raga. She added that she was able to secure him for $300.00.
The schedule for the July Concerts in the Park is as follows:
July 8
July 15
July 22
July 29
Teddy Bear Band
Roseville Area Jazz Band
Hektor and Gas Giants
Michael Monroe
Glazer volunteered to do a web site with a schedule of the Summer Concert series.
