MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 24, 2012
Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2012-10-191 — AMENDING THE FEE /RATE
SCHEDULE FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA ESTABLISHING
AN ANIMAL KENNEL /ANIMAL DAY CARE LICENSE FEE OF $100
PER YEAR
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
RONDEAU The City Administrator reviewed his October 19, 2012 report
PARK summarizing the issues raised at the Rondeau Park neighborhood meeting
FOLLOW -UP held in September. The Administrator noted that this meeting was held as
a result of some incidents that occurred in that neighborhood, and focused
on improving public safety.
The first issue that was raised related to a malfunctioning street light at the
corner of Jackson Street and Bryan Avenue. A repair request was turned
in to Xcel for that street light, and the City has been informed that Jim
Boss has repaired the light. The Administrator reported that an article will
be put in the City's next newsletter informing people to either contact Xcel
or the City to let us know about outages so that they can be repaired
promptly.
The second issue related to undergrowth removal by the ponds on the east
side of Rondeau Park. City staff has reviewed this issue and the brush will
be removed this winter. In clearing brush, the City will ensure that some
screening remains adjacent to Park View Court.
The Administrator noted there was discussion about additional street lights
in the area. In reviewing the City's Street Light Policy, Bryan Avenue is
the only street that does not currently meet the policy. Staff is
recommending that a light be added to an existing power pole near the end
of Bryan between 57 and 65 Bryan.
With regard to the issue of additional lighting in Rondeau Park, the
Administrator reported that Deputy Eastham has recommended additional
lighting on the east side of the playground equipment. The thought is to
start with the addition of this light and then evaluate if there is the need for
more lighting after that light is in.
The final issue raised at the neighborhood meeting related to adding
fencing along the railroad tracks to discourage people from cutting
9
