Item 6: Evaluate the source and potential removal of the sand plume from northeast corner of Savage Lake where it is believed an old MnDot storm sewer pipe discharged. Input from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be considered in determining whether removal shall occur or not assuming it discharged from MnDot's pipe. Response: Metro District staff has investigated the site and in consultation with the MnDNR recommend no action be taken. The consensus is more negative impacts would come from trying to remove the plume than just leaving it undisturbed. Item 7: Install visual barrier from south end of existing wall on the east side of 1 -35E to a line that would intersect with McMenemy Avenue. This should be done with significant plantings with a special allocation of funding for this work in the project's budget that does not reduce landscaping available to the overall project area. MnDot shall coordinate this effort with the City to ensure planting is significant and feasible in the designated area. Response: See Response to Item 3. Item 8: Subject to verification of residents' desires, remove the proposed sound barrier on the west side of I -35E from the line that coincides with the north entry point of Nature Way from Viking Drive. In lieu of this wall, install an evergreen planting arrangement with appropriate density and evergreens of at least 10 feet in height with a special allocation of funding for this work in the project's budget that does not reduce landscaping available to the overall project area. Additional materials should also be used to create a visual screen for the residents of Heather Oaks Townhomes, The final landscape plan is to be approved by the majority of those residents and the City. Response: eenefitted property owners were contacted to determine if they wanted the proposed noise barrier. The survey results do not support including the noise barrier as part of the project. The neighborhood residents will be invited to participate in the development of the 2017 landscape project plans. See Response to Item to Item 3. Item 9: Provide Little Canada three percent (3 %) enhancement money based on the costs of sound barriers constructed in our community as part of this project. Little Canada to work with MnDot on the specific enhancements to be implemented. Response: MnOOT agrees to provide project funding for aesthetic enhancements to the noise barriers constructed as part of this project. The amount will be based on 3% of the noise barrier construction costs. MnDOT will work with the City in development of the aesthetic enhancements details. Item 10: MnDot is to evaluate additional sound reduction on the Unweave the Weave fly -over bridge by possible use of construction barriers on north side of bridge as well as review the sound source study that impacts the Twin Lake neighborhood given other potential sound sources from the freeway.
