Tower Height. Towers may be of a height equal to 150% <br />of the principal structure height permitted in the underlying zoning <br />district for which the tower is located. Heights in excess of this <br />requirement may be allowed by conditional use pennit. Towers that are <br />an accessory use as referenced in the exception clause of Subdivision 2 <br />shall conform to Sections 515.29, subd. 9 and 515.37 of the city code. <br />Subd. 8. Tower Lighting, Towers shall not be illuminated by <br />artificial means and shall not display strobe lights unless such lighting is <br />required by the Federal Aviation Administration or other federal or state <br />authority. <br />Subd. 9. Signs and_4dvertising; The use of any portion of a tower <br />for signs and advertising purposes is prohibited except for applicable <br />warning and equipment information signage required by the <br />manufacturer or by Federal, State, or local authorities. <br />Subd. 10. Accessory Utility Buildings. All utility buildings and <br />structures accessory to a tower shall be architecturally designed to blend <br />in with the surrounding environment to the maximum extent possible and <br />shall meet the minimum accessory building setback requirements of the <br />underlying zoning district. All utility buildings and ground mounted <br />equipment shall be screened from view by suitable vegetation, except <br />where the city finds that a design for non - vegetative screening better <br />reflects and compliments the architectural character of the surrounding <br />neighborhood. Lighting on accessory utility buildings or equipment shall <br />be limited only to that which is needed for security purposes. All exterior <br />lighting shall be diffused or directed away from all property lines and <br />pulic right-of-way. The direct source of light shall not be visible from any <br />abuitting property or the public right -of -way. <br />Subd. 11. Obsolete or Unused Towers.
