MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 26, 1997
REQUEST FOR
EXTENSION OF
CUP — DONOVAN
CONSTRUCTION
TO THERE BEING NO OUTDOOR STORAGE WITHIN THIS
STRUCTURE DURING THE OFF - SEASON
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (3) LaValle, Morelan, Scalze.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Council reviewed the letter from Donovan Construction requesting
an extension of a Conditional Use Permit allowing the use of a
trailer as a temporary office.
John Shamp, General Manager of Donovan Construction, reported that
they have been using a trailer as temporary office space. This trailer is
located inside their shop building. Shamp reported that Donovan's
attorneys have been working on some title problems which exist on the
property. Until those title problems, as well as the issue of road access to
the property, are resolved, it is not feasible to construct permanent office
space. Shamp indicated that Donovan has been looking to lease temporary
office space in the area, but, to date, has been unable to do so.
The City Planner indicated he was unaware the trailer was inside the
Donovan shop building. When the CUP for the temporary office space
was first approved, the location of the trailer that was proposed was not
inside the shop. The Planner was unsure of how the Code would address
this situation.
Morelan asked if there was any intention of moving the trailer outside.
Shamp replied that there was no intention of moving the trailer outside.
However, Donovan would like to lease some temporary office space.
Morelan asked why the Conditional Use Permit was necessary.
The City Planner replied that a CUP was necessary to allow the use of a
trailer as temporary office space. The Planner was unsure if the CUP was
still required given the trailer is located inside the Donovan shop.
The City Administrator suggested there may be some building code issues
given the situation, and suggested the Building Official and Fire Marshall
review the situation.
LaValle asked Donovan's short-range plans.
Page 57
