shall be reviewed and approved by the City Administrator. <br />9. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. The City agrees to budget and to <br />pay the travel and subsistence expenses of Tangen for <br />professional and official travel for meetings and occasions <br />adequate to continue the professional development of Tangen and <br />to adequately pursue necessary official and other committees <br />thereof which employee serves as a member. Tangen will use good <br />judgement in his outside activities so he will not neglect his <br />primary duties to the City. <br />The City also agrees to budget for and to pay the travel and <br />subsistence expenses of Tangen for short courses, or seminars <br />necessary for his professional growth and for the good of the <br />City as approved by the City Administrator. <br />10. TERMINATION AND SEVERANCE PAY. In the event that Tangen is <br />terminated by the City during such time that Tangen is willing <br />and able to perform the duties of Public Works Director, then in <br />that event, the City agrees to pay Tangen a lump sum cash payment <br />equal to one month of aggregate salary if termination occurs <br />within the first three years of employment with the City. <br />Payment of the severance benefit is conditioned upon Tangents <br />execution of a full release, in a form that is acceptable to the <br />City, of any and all claims arising out of his employment <br />relationship with the City. Any severance payments will be made <br />without a matching deferred compensation payment from the City. <br />Page 63 <br />
