Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morel=
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
As discussed last month, I contacted the City of Vadnais Heights
and was informed that they do not regulate tobacco sales.
Vadnais Heights does have an ordinance requiring a license to
sell tobacco at retail. I have attached a copy of that
ordinance. The license fee is $30 per machine. Vadnais Heights
indicated they did a survey of their license - holders Pa year ago
asking about a ban on cigarette vending machines. The license -
holders opposed such a ban.
Also attached are copies of Roseville's and Shoreview's
ordinances regulating tobacco sales, as well as a summary sheet
showing regulations in place in some other cities. Please note
that vending machine restrictions mean that a cigarette vending
machine must be visible to the clerk or bartender and must have a
lock -out device or need tokens which are purchased from the clerk
or bartender in order to operate.
Finally, I have attached some additional information submitted by
the Association for Nonsmokers - Minnesota.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please
contact me prior to Wednesday's meeting.
Page 133
