Minutes
Parks & Recreation
August 1, 1996
Remerowski asked how important is it to have this plan
updated. He questioned the benefit versus the expense of
having the plan revamped. Morelan replied to have it updated
would not be necessary for submittal to the Met Council.
Morelan stated he would like to at least have those pages
that are copied and sent out to residents for informational
purposes updated.
Remerowski
update the
project is
a waste of
asked how much it would cost for Bill Sanders to
plan. Morelan stated the price for the total
$2000.00. Remerowski commented that this would be
money.
Johnson asked if Sanders would update more than the maps.
Morelan responded the $2000.00 price was to update the entire
contents of the binder. Greger asked if this price would
include the binders. Morelan doubted that, but explained
just the content of the binder would be redone for that
price. Remerowski asked if City staff could redo the minor
updates. Morelan responded they couldn't, not without going
through a lot of work. He explained that Sanders had all the
information on the computer.
Remerowksi stated at this point, he is hard - pressed to
justify spending $2000.00 updating a reference book. Morelan
concurred.
Johnson wondered if Sanders could do something for $500.00 or
$1000.00. Remerowski felt that we should either spend the
entire $2000.00 and have it updated completely, or not at
all.
Ables suggested adding an addendum to the book which would
include all changes to date. Ables added the addendum would
be for our use; especially Morelan's use for communicating
with residents. Morelan stated he would like to go further
than that. He would like to have updated maps and facilities
lists. Morelan stated to update the existing park system
section, Sanders estimated 16 hours of labor at $25.00 per
hour. Johnson felt it was worth the expense to have current
maps and descriptions of facilities to reflect what is
actually there. She stated when the new shelter at Spooner
Park is installed this fall, it would be nice to have the
information reflect at least this addition.
Greger added further discussion on this should wait until
Sanders is present to add information to the discussion.
Morelan agreed, stating the current information can be
submitted to the Met Council as is. Remerowski noted to
spend $400.00 on an update now was acceptable, however, if
$2000.00 is spent on an update, in another two or three years
it would be obsolete and another $2000.00 or more would need
to be spent to provide yet another update. He felt it was
not money well- spent. Morelan stated that updating the book
every 2 or 3 years would be too often, but pointed out that
Page 118
