Little Canada Mayor and City Council
10 June 1985
Page Two
2. Our exposure to industrial /office developments as well as contact with
the building industry suggests that a more extensive use of metal finish-
ing materials as an architectural treatment is a very positive type of
building. By totally excluding such material, the City would appear to
be limiting acceptable construction alternatives. In this regard, we
believe it necessary to exclude the morton or butler type of building,
yet allow under supervision of the City Council, the use of metal finish-
ing materials. We would request therefore your consideration of the
following clause.
918.060. Building Requirements.
B. Building Construction
"2. Subject to a conditional use permit, Section 918.040.D. and
the stipulations set forth therein, the City Council may allow
the use of other building materials than those stated in Section
918.060.8.1."
918.040. Conditional Use Permit
D. Exterior building finishes other than those specified in Section 918.060.
B. provided that:
1. The materials shall be limited to the following:
a. Wood, provided the surfaces are finished for exterior
use and wood of proven exterior durability is used, such
as cedar, redwood, cypress.
b. Curtain wall panels of steel, fiberglass and aluminum,
(nonstructural, nonload bearing), provided such panels are
factory fabricated and finished with a durable nonfade
surface and their fasterners are of a corrosion resistant
design.
c. Glass curtain wall panels
c. Stucco
2. The required wall surface treatment may allow a maximum of fifty
(50) percent of material other than that specified in Section
918.060.8.1. to remain exposed if it is coordinated into the
architectural design of the structure.
3. The proposed building maintains the quality and value intended
by the Ordinance.
4.
