Page 5
Planning Commission
May 9, 1985
Section 5
(Cont.)
Mr. Walbon addressed the Commission with a concern as to how this
amendment will affect his site. He purchased 7 acres in February
in the Section 5 area. At that time he checked with the City and
was told that his business was a permitted use for the land. His
business would include semi -truck parking. If the text amendment
were adopted, he would have to file for a variance. He is asking
for special consideration. His problem is critical since they
have to be out of their building. He has a matter of days not
months.
Mr. & Mrs. Gene Fasciana addressed the Commission with their
opposition to the text amendment. They have industrial property
and want it to be maintained industrial.
Ted Johnson, property owner in the industrial area, stated that
there are going to have to be some modifications. The restric-
tions put upon the property owners are becoming tighter and
tighter.
Mr. DeLonais recommended that all the property owners be advised
of the new zoning district regulations and meet at the Public
Hearing on May 22, and that as many of the Planning Board Members
attend as possible.
Mr. Herkenhoff recommended that the Council make special consider-
ation of the Walbons.
Mrs. Timmons made-the following motion:
Approving the Industrial Park Text Amendment as
presented to us tonight. ..
Mr. DuCharme seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5 -3.
Section 5 Mr. Jim Morelan, Recreation Director and Mrs. Beverly Scalze, City
Ballfields Council Park Liaison, presented a preliminary proposal to purchase
land within the Section 5 Industrial area to be used for ballfields.
Mr. DeLonais asked why we cannot get the Kellogg fields. He is
not in favor of having 16 or 17 acres of property that we cannot
tax.
Mr. Harold Feichert, Little Canada Recreation Coach, spoke in
support of the ballfields.
1 14 v
