MINUPFS
Planning Commission
Jan. 10, 1985
Budget Auto Mr. Fritz stated that he thought he had a license for 30 cars.
Mr. DeLonais stated that he was on the Commission in 1976 and there
was never to be any parking in the southwest corner of the property.
Mr. Fritz stated that he was not aware of it, but is complying with
that now.
Mrs. Timmons asked the number of cars stated on the Budget Auto
license. Mr. Fritz replied that his license does not say how
many cars he can have. Fritz stated that if he had known that he
could only have 15 cars, he would have never opened up.
Mrs. Timmons stated that she thinks the lot looks junky. There are
too many cars and they are not placed nicely. Timmons felt that
30 cars was too many.
Mr. Costa asked if there were plans for upgrading the parking areas.
Fritz replied that he planned to lime rock the parking areas and
leave the grassy area in the Eront.
Mrs. Timmons stated that there were to he no banners or flags on
the lot. Fritz replied that he has never had banners or flags.
Fritz also stated that most of the time he does not have 30 cars,
but between 15 and 20.
Fritz pointed out that he has been in business for almost two years
and this is the first he has heard of any complaints that he has had
too many cars. Fritz stated that he cannot stay in business with
a 15 car limitation. Fritz stated that he needs a variety of
merchandize to attract people.
Mrs. Timmons stated that a spot that would hold 30 cars would probably
be more expensive to run than the present location. Fritz replied
that this was not true.
Timmons stated that the City wants the business run by the Code.
Fritz replied that he can live with the City Codes, but not the
15 car limitation.
Mr. Vince Scarella, a co —owner of the business, stated that when
they came in to the City for a license, their proposal said 30 cars,
but apparently no one read the proposal. The business has been in
operation a couple of years and there have been no complaints until
a couple of months ago.
Mr. Costa asked if there was room for 30 cars. The Planner suggested
that Mr. Fritz bring him a site plan of how the cars will be displayed
and also designate customer parking area. Gri.ttman stated that he
could work on this during staff hours.
Mrs. Timmons stated that she would like to see a Planner's report on
this.
Page —7—
