MINUTES
Planning Commission
May 8, 1986
Twin Lake
Shores 2nd
Addition
Bingo
Mr. Blaine Edmundson, representing Mrs. Margaret Mitchell and her
son, appeared before the Commission requesting approval of the Twin
Lake Shores 2nd Addition.
Mr. Edmundson had not received a copy of the Planner's report and
this matter was tabled until later in the meeting to give Mr. Edmundson
an opportunity to review the report.
Mr. Tom Short, owner of the Northwestern Bell Building proposed for
a bingo hall, appeared before the Commission with a parking plan
for his building. Mr. Short pointed out that there are 277 parking
spaces provided on the plan and he has substituted bus access for
parking that was previously indicated.
Mr. Costa asked the seating capacity of the building.
Mr. Short replied that they will have seating for 450 people and that
the parking he has provided is in excess of the Code requirement.
Costa commented that he previously understood that there would be
seating for 650. Short replied that the seating capacity has been
scaled down to 450. People over that amount will be turned away.
Mrs. Timmons stated that she was very much against a bingo operation
in Little Canada.
Lois Blomberg of St. Joseph's Society stated that she was a resident
of Little Canada, and she was very much in favor of the bingo operation.
Short pointed out that parking has been eliminated on the south lot
line of the property in order to accommodate bus unloading.
Mrs. Schweizer asked where buses would park. Mr.Short replied that
he has adequate room for bus parking, however this area has not
been designated as they are unsure of the bus activity at this point.
Mr. Ray Masman, representing the Lions Club pointed out that the
bingo hall will provide jobs in the City as well as additional
business for the City's merchants.
The Commission asked the number of days per week bingo would be
played as well as the hours of operation.
Mr. Masman indicated that they hope to have bingo 7 days per week
and their anticipated hours are from 7 P.M. until 11 P.M.
Mr. DeLonais felt that the Planning Commission was at a disadvantage
as it has not received the same presentation as the City Council did.
Mrs. Timmons asked who will be operating the bingo hall.
Page -4-
