MINUTES
City Council
May 22, 1985
Sofie/
Peterson
(Cont.)
Cecka stated that if he can get two lots back, he is not opposed to
putting Thunder Bay Road through. Mr. Frank Frattalone stated that
he and Mr. Cecka gave an extra 100 feet and if the road goes through,
they would want this back.
Scalze pointed out that the original park plan only requested property
to the east. Scalze stated that the road should be run through,
which will push the ballfield over and then a walkway easement should
be given to the City.
Mr. Fahey suggested that perhaps Messrs. Cecka, Frattalone, Peterson
and Sofie should get together and discuss the matter. Mr. Cecka felt
that this was not appropriate. Cecka stated that he has an approved
plat and the Sofie /Peterson proposal may never go through. Cecka
stated that he is willing to run Thunder Bay Road through. The City
Clerk stated that Mr. Cecka has preliminary plat approval.
Mr. Blesener stated that he felt the Sofie /Peterson proposal should go
through to LaBore Road.
Mr. Nosko asked if the City would accept the provision for future access
to LaBore Road. Mr. Blesener stated that this was not acceptable to
the people on Greenbrier and Payne Avenue who would still be faced with
a traffic problem.
Mrs. Underbakke - Kubera commented that there are a lot of small children
in the Payne Avenue area and safety on this street should be considered.
Underbakke - Kubera also commented that the City should not be looking at
a park under power lines.
A member of the audience asked if Payne Avenue was a legal street as
he has heard comments to the contrary. Mr. Fahey replied that it was
a legal street.
Mrs. Scalze stated that she felt Ontario Road should go through to
LaBore Road.
Mrs. Nardini suggested that perhaps the cul -de -sac to the south could
be shortened to a 500 foot cul -de -sac.
Mr. Fahey stated that if access is provided from Thunder Bay Road, there
would be no good -faith basis to deny such a proposal. Fahey stated that
he would like to see access to the south provided and put through when
the property to the south develops.
Scalze felt it would be poor planning on the City's part not to put
the access through at this time. Scalze pointed out that the access
is shown on the thoroughfare plan.
Mr. Fahey suggested that the City go to the original park plan for the
area.
Page -8-
51.
