MINUTES
City Council
May 14, 1986
Mr. Short reported that the southern row of parking has been
eliminated to accommodate the bus unloading. There is a total
of 43 feet between the building and the property line in this area
and there will be an entrance on the side of the building for the
people from the buses to enter.
DeLonais asked where supplies for the concessions will be unloaded.
Mr. Short reported that there are 8 service doors on the building.
However, supplies would be received when bingo is not in session
and this could be handled at any of the entrances.
Mr. DeLonais asked if the Fire Inspector has inspected the building.
Short replied that he has and that the building is sprinklered.
Costa asked what other games besides bingo would be played.
Ray Massman of the Lions replied that just bino and pull -tabs would
be available.
Davison asked if there was another area where bus unloading could
occur so that it is not done in the area of this busy street.
Short reported that the entrance on that side of the building is
raised 8 inches, and the buses could turn around and unload right
at the door. Short reported that there will be outside security
that will direct traffic, including the buses.
Davison suggested that a bus unloading zone be designated in
front of the door.
The Planner felt there was plenty of room for bus unloading in
front of the door. The Planner stated that the problem with unloading
at the door is that the buses have to go back onto Rice Street and
turn around to come back into the parking lot and park.
Herkenhoff asked if the buses could unload at another entrance.
The Planner replied that there were some drawbacks no matter which
side the unloading occurred.
Davison pointed out that the first row of parking could be eliminated
on the east side of the building and unloading could occur at that
entrance. Davison stated that he would feel more comfortable making
the situation as safe as possible.
Mr. Short estimated that for the first year there would not be a
lot of bus activity.
Page -3-
13
