MINUTES <br />City Council <br />May 14, 1986 <br />Mr. Bill Quirin, representing the Suburban Area Chamber of Commerce, <br />read a letter from the Chamber dated May 14, 1986, strongly supporting <br />bingo in Little Canada due to the positive effect it will have on <br />the City's businesses. <br />Mr. Davison recommended approval of the conditional use permit PUD <br />for a bingo hall at the old Northwestern Bell building on Rice <br />Street as well as Exhibit B site plan for parking. <br />Motion seconded by Mr. Perlinger. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />Mr. Herkenhoff asked for information on the organization of the <br />charities in this venture. <br />Ray Massman, Little Canada Lions, reported that he is the President <br />of the Hall Association. The charities involved are: <br />Minnesota Registry of the Interpreters of the Deaf; <br />St. Joseph's Society; <br />Servants of Mary, Inc.; <br />Front Avenue Sr. Boosters Club; <br />Lions Club of Little Canada; <br />Northern Suburban Developmental Achievement Center; <br />Ramsey County Humane Society; <br />and possibly the Suburban Area Chamber of Commerce. <br />Massman reported that the Directors and Officers are as follows: <br />Board of Directors - <br />Chairman Jan Sherman <br />Vice Chair Ray Massman <br />Secretary Bob Finnerty <br />Treasurer Ed Amaro <br />Member Lois Blomberg <br />Officers - <br />President Ray Massman <br />Vice President Lois Blomberg <br />Secretary Phil Saari <br />Treasurer JoAnn Hegner <br />Massman reported that everyone on the Board has one vote. <br />Massman was asked if he is involved in bingo in any other City. <br />Massman replied that he used to be involved in bingo 25 years ago, <br />but that was a totally different operation than what is being <br />proposed today. <br />Page -4- <br />, - 14 <br />
