MINUTES CITY COUNCIL AUGUST 23, 2006 The City Planner indicated that the Zoning Code does not adequately address the difference between the outdoor storage of vehicles and the parking of commercial vehicles. The proposed Amendment to the Zoning Code expressly permits the overnight parking of company vehicles in business districts as distinguished from outdoor storage of materials and/or equipment. Parking of commercial vehicles in business and industrial districts would be a permitted use provided that the following conditions are met: 1. Vehicles may have no more than two axles. 2. Vehicles must be licensed and operable on their own power. 3. Vehicle parking must be accessory use to a principal use on the site. 4. Commercial vehicles may not occupy required parking spaces on site. The Planner noted that the parking of commercial vehicles beyond these conditions would require a Conditional Use Permit. Keis asked about a business that had a fleet of commercial vehicles. The City Planner pointed ouC thaC the ordinance limits parking Co 10% of the lot area. Parking beyond that limitation would require a CUP. The Planner indicated that the ordinance amendment is similar to what his office sees in other communities. There was no one else from the general public present wishing to comment on this area. Upon motion by Keis, seconded by Allan, the public hearing was closed. Mr. Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOL UTION NO. 2006-8-192 -AMENDING SECTION 903 OF THE ZONING CODE PERTAINING TO PARKING OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES FOR COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL PROPERTIES The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour.
