gIN!UTES
Planning Commission
Dec. 11, 1936
Cellular
One (Cont.)
Timmons pointed out that the City could receive a request from
another utility reouesting a tower.
The Planner pointed out that there are only two cellular telephone
cor'panies allowed to operate in the State, and if another request
is made, they will have to go through the conditional use permit
process.
"r. Oxley indicated that the other cellular telephone company has
adequate towers in the surrounding areas.
The Planner pointed out that the text amendment applies only to
essential services and would not apply to a private user.
"r. Spannus noted that the tower is proposed to he located fairly
close to existing power lines, and would be unobtrusive.
Mrs. Tirislons asked if such a toner were proposed in the I -P District,
if the City had the option of denying such a request.
The planner noted that the performance standards are different for
the I -P District and the City could refuse such a request based
on detriment to property values or aesthetics.
Timmons stated that she was disappointed that she did not get the
information about tower locations prior to tonight's meeting so
that she could have looked at existing towers.
Oxley reported that they are proposing not to paint the tower. The
tower would also have a light on it that would be white during the
day and red at night.
Davison stated that he !could he in favor of the Cellular One proposal
provided that the moratorium in the area is removed and that the
road issue is resolved.
The Planner reported that Donovan Construction will be required to
submit a PUD for the property as there wi 11 be two principle uses
on the property. However, the Planner did not feel that the Cellular
nne proposal needed to he held up due to the PhD issue.
!Mrs. Timmons felt that any action on the Cellular One request should
be tabled as the Planning Commission did not have an opportunity to
review the site plan prior to tonight's meeting, the road issue needs
to be resolved, as well as a PIIO Agreement worked out with Donovan
Construction.
Davison asked if the Commission had any concerns with the site plan.
Timmons pointed out that she would like to know the setbacks of the
various buildings on the Donovan property as well as those of the
proposed facility in rel ation to the Donovan buildings.
Mre
Timmons
