5
Jim Veilieux knocked on my door to tell me th;;t; the trailer park
plans to expand again—to a point feet south of our property
line.
If we had thought for one moment that this could happen
again, we would never have repaired this house and moved back
here. We would have continued to rent or whatever we had to do
to avoid living; through another one of their expansions.
I h: ve seen how Terrace 1:r:ip;r'ts conduct:; an expansion- -with
ruthless disregard for the land, the adjacent property owners,
drainage, and aesthetic factors. When the park expanded north
to Demont Avenue, a low -lying pond in front of our house was
filled until we found ourselves facing a wall of sand at least
10 feet high, which completely walled off the front of our house.
The natural drainage from our land. t was destroyed, with the re-
sult that it began to overflow across the lawn .when it rained.
This "wall of sand" was actually dedicated Park Street, not the
private property of the trailer park, but they were constructing
it to suit themselves, at a height which could never have met the
existing grade of Demont Avenue, with which it was eventually
supposed to intersect. At our insistence, the park operators
had to reduce the grade of Park Street, but it, and the trail -
ers) are still much higher than our land, leaving us down in a
hole. We have had to change our front entrance to another
side of the house, since the old one faces the built -up wall
of sand and the metal sides of the trailers.
Page -13-
