Gottwald
Carley Engineering Co.
500 W. Hwy 96
St. Paul,Minnesota
Dear Mr. 'Gottwald re Burming project- Sleepy Hollow ponding area-
180 -210 County Rd.B.2,Little Can.'
As follow -up to our meeting of 8- 26 -75, regarding the burm to be built
by the City of Little Canada at the above address, this letter is to convey'
my understanding of our agreement as to what will be done. If there are
any differences please contact me immediately.
1. A burm will be built between the north side of the pond and the apartment
property, extending from the west to the east parking lots, on their south
side.
2. Soil for the burm will be obtained by a dragline from the pond itself,
thereby increasing the capacity of the pond to hold surface waters.
3.The burm will be built to a height of one foot above the building elevation
or approx. 2 feet above the bottom of the evert culvert on the east side r,. •
of the 210 building. It will be 4 feet wide at the top and have a 20 ft.
wide base, sloping gradually towards the apartment buildings.
4i-The burm will be contoured in such manner as not to encroach on the
So playgrounds or barbecue patio, and will go pond -side of a clump of
treed on the west end of the burm.
5. A culvert will be buried in the burm at each of the two lowest points
of the backyard behind the apartments, in such manner that they will be -
"capped" on the building side and can be opened to drain water from the
backyard into the pond if necessary. -
6.Depending on the nature of the soil from the pond, topsoil will be
used if necessary on the burm. The burm will be sodded to complete its
appearance in a satisfactory manner.
7. The project will be undertaken as expeditiously as possible in an
attempt to reach completion within the next month.
0. H. ROBERTS, M.O.
8. E. STMCHYCH, M.D.
G. L. PETERSEN. M.O.
C. F, GALWAY, M.D.
R. E. DAt1MANN, M.O.:'.
E. MARTE, M.O.
M. A. TANASICMUS, 14.D,
It is my understanding that the building of the burm may not be a permanent
solution to the problem of water accumulating in the pond to such extent
as to flood the apartment buildings, and that a more extensive project may
have to be undertaken in the future. To this end I wish to affirm my will-
ingness to cooperate in such measures and to assume my fair share of costs.
I trust the City of Little Canada Council will also support such more
permanent measures if it becomes necessary.
Respectfully
4 -4.crr yati .
M.A.Tanasach_,_----- uk,MD.
25
