MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 27, 2006
progress. He noted thaC in June he requested six months to clean up the
property, however, the City only gave him 90 days. Sedaghat reported
that he has worked very hard to clean up the property, barely even going
home. His biggest obstacle in making progress is the employee problems
he has been experiencing. Sedaghat reported that he has hired someone to
sort through and organize the parts so he can get rid of the trash
permanently. Sedaghat noted, however, that he cannot devote all his time
to cleaning up the property since he still had to make a living.
Sedaghat reported that it is a puzzle to him as to how the City wants him
to run his business. Sedaghat asked the Council how they want him to run
the business. He also asked what the City considered to be repairables.
Sedaghat indicated that to him a repairable is a totally lost vehicles, not a
vehicle that has a flaC fire or needs minor repair work. Again, he indicated
that a repairable was a totally lost vehicle.
Keis noted that the Cotal number of vehicles allowed, whether repairables
or vehicles for sale, is 50. Keis asked Sedaghat how he justified Che
vehicles over that amount. SedaghaC reported that these are not his cars,
but customer cars waiting to be repaired. Sedaghat again asked the
Council how he should run his business.
Allan noted that the Council is not in this business, and suggested that
there are similar businesses in Ryan Industrial Park that Sedaghat should
contact for business advice.
Sedaghat reported that he has been going through a lot of upheaval, and he
does not like his occupation. He indicated that he wants to get out of the
auto repair business and that he has a dead inventory. Sedaghat reported
that he needs additional time to clean up the property, and again
mentioned his staffing problem. Sedaghat reported that he has not
purchased any damaged vehicles other than ones with minor damage. He
indicated that he has an accumulation of repairable vehicles on his
property from over the past few years. Sedaghat stated that he has to tell
people no, that he cannot repair their cars.
Blesener asked how many customer cars have been on the property for
more than a year, cars that Sedaghat does not own. Sedaghat indicated
that he has some customer cars on his property that have been there for six
or seven months. Montour asked how many repairables Sedaghat has
bought and moved onto Che property in the last 90 days. Sedaghat replied
that he has stopped buying damaged vehicles. Blesener pointed out that
Sedaghat has a lot of vehicles that will never get fixed.
10
