MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 10, 2006 <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-5-II2 -AWARDING THE LOW BID <br />RECEIVED FROM O'MALLEY CONSTRUCTION IN THE AMOUNT <br />OIT $80,990.23 FOR 2006 SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS AS <br />RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY ENGINEER <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Allan. <br />Ayes (3). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />HISTORICAL Blesener announced the Historical Society plaque dedication/mortgage <br />SOCIETY burning ceremony which will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at <br />2:00 p.m. at the Historical Society. The public is invited to attend. <br />PARKS & With regret, the Council noted the resignation of Ginger Glaser from <br />RECREATION the Parks & Recreation Commission as she is moving from LiCYle Canada. <br />COMMISSION The Council acknowledged and thanked her for her valuable contributions <br />VACANCY to the City. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced Che following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-5-113 -AUTHORIZING THE <br />ADVERTISEMENT OF THE VACANCY ON THE PARK & <br />RECREATION COMMISSION <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. <br />Ayes (3). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />ERIC Eric Weisman, Edgerton Street, appeared before Che Council and <br />WEISMAN requested that LiCYle Canada impose a special $400 tax on animals in the <br />City that are not spayed or neutered. Weisman reported that there are over <br />70,000 homeless dogs and cats in the Twin Cities because of uncontrolled <br />breeding. Weisman suggested that the City require that all veterinary <br />clinics within a 15 mile radius of the City be required Co collecC this $400 <br />tax. The clinics would be allowed to keep $200 of the tax as an incentive <br />for collecting it. <br />The City Administrator pointed out that the City has no authority outside <br />of the Little Canada jurisdiction Co impose such a tax.
