MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 24, 2006
FOR THESE RELATED FEES AS RECOMMENDED BY CITY
STAFF
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
AUTHORIZE The City Administrator reviewed the report dated May 18, 2006
BIDS TOR wherein the Parks & Recreation Department and the Parks & Recreation
PARK Commission are recommending the advertisement for bids for two
IMPROVEMENTS parks projects. The first project is the power line trail connection to
Walter Street in Maplewood. Estimated cost of the project to Little
Canada is $85,000 and to Maplewood is $57,000, based on the differing
lengths of trail in each City. The Parks Consultant is proposing Co bid
both cities' trail segments as one project, with each city paying its
proportionate share. Therefore, it may be necessary to have a Joint
Powers Agreement with Maplewood for the management of Yhis project.
The second project is the addition of walking path and a wildlife viewing
platform in Nadeau Park. Estimated cost of this project is $51,000.
The City Administrator indicated that based on Che very limited dollars
budgeted for these two projects, there maybe an additional $127,500 in
funding needed. The Administrator indicated that these funds could come
from the Infrastructure Fund.
The City Administrator recommended that the Council authorized the
advertisement for bids for these projects. Once bids are obtained, a full
recommendation will be presented to the Council including funding
sources for these improvements.
Montour asked if Chese improvements could be bid with the City's street
work. The City Administrator reported that given the differences in park
trail work and street work, it is difficult to get an economy of scale by
bidding the two together.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO.2006-5-I27 -AUTHORIZING THE
ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR THE POWER LINE TRAIL
CONNECTION TO WALTER STREET IN MAPLEWOOD AS WELL
AS THE NADEAU WILDLIFE AREA SIDEWALK AND OVERLOOK
13
