Park Com. Min. March 27, 1980 Page Two Mrs. Scalze reported on the council action regarding park fees indicating $300.00 for new, single family dwellings and that amount should automatically come to Park Commission attention. Further discussion regarding the Twin Lakes area, Larry Lee Development, and the plaque for the bandstand followed. The Park Commission has been advised the cost for the plaque will run about $318.00 from the city Council General Fund. Electricity for the tennis court area was also discussed, bids from various installers will be gathered by Joe Donovan. Mr. Donovan indicated prices for lumber to complete capping the back wall of the bandstand. Upon motion duly made, seconded, and unanimously carried, Joe Donovan is hereby authorized to buy the material necessary within the budget to complete a rough cut cedar cap for the back wall of the bandstand. Jim Morelan explained to the Commission the need for a telephone in the park maintenance building. Following discussion and on motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, Mr. Morelan was authorized to proceed with the request and installation of a telephone in the maintenance building,,the cost of which is to be shared with the Park and Recreation Committee. Encouraging concerts in the bandstand was discussed; Lois Runyon will make some initial contacts to enable adequate use of that facility. The unfinished bocce ball court and the need for additional horseshoe pits was discussed. Gene Fascina will be contacted. Mr. Spooner may attempt to get an interested horseshoe group going. The next meeting of this Commission will be a park tour on Thursday, May 1, at 6 o'clock p.m., followed by the regular business meeting at City Center.
