By LAWS <br />ARTICLE III <br />MEMBERSHIP <br />DRAFT <br />Section 1 NUMBER <br />The Advisory Board shall consist of twenty (20) members <br />whose representation, appointment and tenure shall be <br />consistent with M.S. Section 401.08 (Community Corrections <br />Act) and Public Law (Justice System Improvement Act). <br />Section 2 APPOINTMENTS TO MANDATORY POSITIONS <br />The Advisory. Board shall notify the Chairman of the County <br />Board when a position is vacant. Members shall be appointed <br />by the Chairman of the County Board subject to confirmation <br />by the full County Board. All appointments are subject <br />to the Ramsey County Open Appointments Policy (Resolution <br />77 -612). <br />Section 3 <br />APPOINTMENTS TO CITIZEN POSITIONS There shall be six citizen <br />members. Three citizen positions each from St. Paul and the <br />suburban municipalities shall be appointed. The Advisory Baord <br />shall notify the Chairman of the County Board that a citizen <br />position is vacant and whether a St. Paul or suburban <br />municipalities representative is appropriate. Three <br />nominations per vacant position shall be accepted by the <br />Chairman of the County Board from St. Paul or the suburban <br />municipalities as appropriate. The appointment shall be <br />made by the Chairman of the County Board subject to <br />confirmation by the full County Board. <br />Section 4 TERM <br />Members of the Advisory Board shall serve for terms of two <br />years from and after the date of their appointment, and <br />shall remain in office until their successors are duly <br />appointed. Members may be reappointed for additional or <br />consecutive terms at the discretion of the Chairman of <br />the County Board. <br />Section 5 <br />Section 6 <br />DESIGNEES <br />As provided in the Community Corrections Act, members may <br />appoint designees by providing the County Board a written <br />statement relinquishing his /her position and investing in <br />the designee full authority to represent the member on <br />the Advisory Board. The designation shall be subject to <br />the confirmation of the County Board. <br />RESIGNATIONS <br />A member may resign by notifying the Chairman of the <br />Advisory Board in writing. If circumstances do permit, <br />the member shall serve until his /her successor is duly <br />appointed. <br />
