PERSONNEL § 19 -76 <br />Sec. 19 -73. Same — Determination. <br />The clerk - administrator shall determine whether an <br />employee is eligible for benefits under the sick leave plan <br />and, in connection with such determination, may determine, <br />in his discretion, whether an employee's absence from work <br />is actually due to illness or injury. In the event the clerk <br />deems it proper to make inquiry into an employee's absence <br />the employee shall cooperate in authorizing the clerk to <br />obtain any necessary medical or hospital reports. (Ord. No. <br />83, § 3(C)(2), 2-22-65) <br />Sec. 19 -74. Rate of accrual. <br />Sick leave pay will be granted according to accumulated <br />earned service credit, after one year's employment, to <br />regular employees at the rate of one day per month, or <br />twelve (12) days a year. (Ord. No. 83, § 3(C)(3), 2- 22 -65; Ord. <br />No. 110, § 3, 12 -9 -68) <br />Sec. 19 -75. Accumulation. <br />In no event shall accumulated sick leave total more than <br />one hundred (100) days. When accumulated sick leave <br />reaches the said maximum the employee will continue to be <br />credited with one day per month banked sick leave, which <br />may be used by him after depletion of his accumulated sick <br />leave, to protect the employee in the event of long illness or <br />accident. Extension of leave. <br />Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this division, <br />the council may, in its discretion, grant additional sick leave <br />pay to a city employee in the event the council finds that <br />extension of the normal sick leave allowance is justified <br />because of hardship to the employee. The council shall <br />determine the existence of the hardship, in its sound <br />discretion, which determination shall be final.
