UTES
ty Council
May 28, 1986
Thunder Bay
2nd Addition
(Cont.)
Mr. Don Stcynske, representing his father, Joseph Stcynske, replied
that this would be considered. Stcynske also felt that access
to his property should be provided from either the Sophie /Peterson
plat or this plat.
Fahey suggested that Mr. Stcynske get together with the property
owners on this matter.
Scalze pointed out that in order for the City to be interested in
the Stcynske property, there has to be access to it.
Paul and Mary Lou Kostecki, 656 LaBore Road, appeared before the
Council opposing the road going through to LaBore Road on the
south. Mary Lou Kostecki read from a prepared statement outlining
their reasons for opposing the road access to LaBore. The Kostecki
horse is directly across the street from where the proposed road
would access La3ore Road. Some of their main concerns were: noise,
light distraction, safety, air pollution, property devaluation.
Kostecki also pointed out the increased traffic on LaBore Road and
felt that the road was presently unsafe and should be widened with
sidewalks and shoulders added. Kostecki stated that she was amazed
that the City would even consider a road that would be four feet
from someone's home.
Fahey pointed out that whether the road went through to LaBore Road
or ended in a cul -de -sac on the south, the traffic would still end
up on LaBore Road.
Scalze pointed out that LaBore Road is a County road. Scalze
reported that in the past the City has requested stop signs on
La3ore, but the County has denied these requests.
Fahey stated that the County has LaBore Road included as part
of the main thoroughfare plan for the area.
Richard Haply, 670 LaBore Road, reported that he agreed with the
Kostecki comments and pointed out that the roadway will be directly
across from his bedroom. Hanley pointed out the additional cars
this development will generate and was concerned with the safety
of children in the area.
Mr. Wright pointed out that his bedroom would be next to the proposed
road as well
Mary Peterson, Payne Avenue reported that Allen Avenue is directly
across the street from her home and if the proposed road does
not go to LaBore, then she will get additional traffic coming her
way. Peterson stated that there are about 60 children in the
Payne Avenue area and was concerned about the safety of these
children and the increased traffic that would be generated onto
Payne Avenue should the road not go through to LaBore.
Page 94
