Mr. Joseph G. Chlebeck
June 23, 1987
Page Two
Section 209.210(B) has been amended to provide that an
employee who becomes a candidate for an office other than a City
office may be required to take a leave of absence during the
candidacy, if the employee is unable to perform the normal
duties of his employment. I have deleted the references to
elected to appointed officials since it appears they would be
covered by Minn. Stat. Section 210A.09.
Originally, I had discussed the changing of the term
"regular employee" to "permanent employee." After again
reviewing the Ordinance, it does not appear that such an
amendment would be necessary and it does appear that "regular
employee" is sufficient throughout the Personnel Code.
Would you please submit the enclosed to the Council for
their consideration. If anyone has any questions, please
contact the undersigned.
TMS:slc
Enclosure
Yours very truly,
SWEENEY, O'CONNO & BORER
homas M. Sweeney
PAGE -29
