MINUTES
Planning Commission
May 14, 1987
Boosalis Mr. Nick Boosalis appeared before the Commission and presented a
Concept development stage PUD for the property on County Road C and Rice
Stage PUD Street and requested approval of the commission. Boosalis reported
that the proposal meets the recommendations of the City Planner and
Planning Commission.
Boosalis also informed the Commission that he has contacted the owner
of the property to the north and is considering the purchase of this
property and developing it and a portion of the Krienke property
with townhouses. However, this is just in the feasibility stage at
this point.
Davison recommended approval of the Boosalis concept stage PUD
subject to the recommendations of the Planner as contained in his
May 11, 1987 memo.
Motion seconded by Mr. Perlinger.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
Acquisition Costa reported that the Council held a workshop meeting on Tuesday
Of Additional evening to discuss with the property owners in the Centerville Road
Park Land area the possibility of the City's acquiring 25 to 30 acres of park
land in this area. The City reported on the results of Larry Lee's
soil borings done on his property in this area and the indication
the the soils in the entire area may be poor and not able to support
industrial development:
Costa also reported that Mr. Butler, another property owner in the
area, reported that he has had soil tests done on his property and
feels it will support industrial development.
Costa reported that it appears that the Council wants to acquire land
in the area, but not pay an industrial price for the land.
Costa also reported that it appears that the Council will have soil
borings done on the property north of Montreal Courts to determine
soil conditions in that particular area.
Costa pointed out that with the pending acquisition of Spooner Park,
the acquisition of the Johnson property and the availability of other
ballfields in the City, he is very disappointed with Council action
regarding the Centerville Road area.
Herkenhoff commented that if there are differences of opinion on
the quality of soils in the area, judgements should not be made
until soils tests are done.
Page 7
