MINUTES <br />Planning Commission <br />May 14, 1987 <br />Connco Mr. David Johnson, representing Connco Shoes, appeared before the <br />Shoes Commission requesting approval of a sign height variance so that <br />Sign Connco Shoes can construct a second pylon on their property a <br />Height height of 40 feet. The ordinance states that 24 feet is the maximum <br />Variance height for a pylon in this area. <br />Johnson explained previous City action amending the ordinance which <br />would allow two pylon signs on a property. <br />Johnson also reported that the sign would be considerably lower than <br />the Levitz sign and would not interfere with the visibility of this <br />sign. <br />David <br />Wright <br />Lot Split <br />The Planner explained that the City recently amended the ordinance <br />allowing existing roof signs to be considered conforming signs which <br />now allows Connco to request another free - standing sign for their <br />property, as the building will be double - occupied. <br />Mrs. Timmons recommended approval of the Connco Shoes sign height <br />variance as outlined subject to the recommendations of the City <br />Planner in his May 11, 1987 report. <br />Motion seconded by Schweizer. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />Mr. David Wright appeared before the Commission requesting approval <br />of the division of his property at 2985 Vanderbie Street into two <br />lots. <br />The Planner explained that he has been discussing this proposal with <br />the City Attorney, and it is his recommendation that the City will <br />have to obtain the remaining necessary street easement prior to <br />approval of the property division. <br />Wright explained that he has provided the necessary road right -of- <br />way on his property, but an additional 20 feet of right -of -way is <br />needed from the Plessel property located at 490 Allan Avenue. <br />Mr. Wright also reported that the Plessel property is currently for <br />sale. <br />Timmons questioned the feasibility of getting the street dedicated <br />all the way through. <br />The Planner explained that a temporary cul -de -sac can be extended to <br />serve the Wright property. <br />Timmons asked if adjacent property owners were notified of this <br />proposal. <br />Page 3 <br />
