EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF SHOREVIEW, MINNESOTA <br />HELD JULY 27, 1987 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special <br />meeting of the City Council of the City of Shoreview, Minnesota <br />was duly called and held at Shoreview City Hall in said City on <br />July 27, 1987, at 7:00 P.M. The following members were present: <br />Mayor Wedell; Councilmembers Sundberg, McGraw, Weyandt, and <br />Wegleitner. <br />and the following members were absent: None. <br />Member McGraw introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 87 -69 <br />RECOMMENDING TO THE RAMSEY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS THAT A <br />NEW HEADQUARTERS LIBRARY BE LOCATED IN A CENTRAL AREA IN THE <br />NORTH SUBURBAN PART OF RAMSEY COUNTY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Shoreview strongly supports <br />improved library service in the north suburban area of Ramsey <br />County; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of Shoreview has carefully <br />reviewed the library location studies prepared by the Library <br />Board; and, <br />WHEREAS, Roseville schools have been declining in <br />attendance while the more northerly suburban schools are rapidly <br />expanding in size; and <br />WHEREAS, two colleges are located near the central part <br />of the north suburban Ramsey County area; and <br />WHEREAS, the most recent population estimates from the <br />Metropolitan Council indicate a declining population in Roseville <br />and a rapidly growing population in the northern part of the <br />county; and <br />WHEREAS, through access is provided by roads in the <br />central part of the north suburban area such as Lexington Avenue, <br />Rice Street, I -694, and Highway 96; and <br />WHEREAS, there is greater opportunity to have a smaller <br />total site cost in the central part of the north suburban area; <br />Page 123 <br />
