August 21, 1987 <br />City of Little Canada Council <br />Canabury Association Board <br />Subject: Special Assessments <br />I have special assessments from you that <br />sa4sessments are:on top of inflated taxes <br />They are for street improvements, siding, <br />necessary expenditures. These costs are a <br />disturb me. These special <br />and maintenance feels. <br />fire protection and un- <br />leo inflated. <br />Many of your citizens and owners are on fixed incomes from retirement <br />based on a much lower level of the economy. dttscares one to get so many <br />special assessments with huge penalties if not paid et once. To get <br />these at a time when the cost of living is growing so rapidily one <br />can hardly keep up with it now, puts burdens on us that is hard to bare. <br />We feel like victums of local boards spending our money than billing <br />us for unexpected expenses that we don t know anything about. Without <br />decent responsible management that understands and keeps us Informed. <br />We are given offices with strong arm people who carry out orders . We <br />should'nt have to hire:lawyers to represent.us in confusing public <br />assemblies. <br />The elected people are serving only as part time representives.aad <br />can be manipulated by special interests and unapproachable so that <br />in the end we are victums being pushed around by people and agents <br />not representing us, that are performing unsatisfactory work and spending <br />our money. <br />I hope you will think about taeee matters and understand you could <br />provide responsible- management. That could keep us informed and hear <br />us.prIvately and take our circumatances'lnto consideration.
